Mississippi River Power Thanks Outgoing Members

MRPC would like to thank outgoing Board members, Paul Virgin and Garry Dalgity, whose terms on the Board came to an end on December 31st. Both individuals served on the Board for many years, making significant contributions.

Garry Dalgity was first appointed to the Board as the Mississippi Mills Municipal Council representative from 2006 to 2011. He was then re-appointed in January of 2015. As an excellent communicator, he proved to be a valuable resource as a conduit to sole Shareholder (the Municipality of Mississippi Mills) during the planning and construction of the Lower Falls Redevelopment project. Through the years, Garry proved to be a effective asset to the Board, as someone who was always well organized and a strong, reasoned voice.

Paul Virgin was appointed to the Board in 2004. He served as Vice-President under then-President Des Houston for many years. During that time his advice and oversight of the Lower Falls Redevelopment Project was invaluable. When the penstock failed two years after construction, his knowledge of the insurance industry helped steer the corporation in the right direction and ease concerns. Paul was elected President of the Board in October of 2014 and served in that role until his term ended at 2020 year-end. During his tenure as President, MRPC completed the major Millfall & Earthen Dam Rehabilitation project, which had been discussed and planned for many years. He helped move the project forward on schedule by personally visiting regulating authorities in order to resolve outstanding issues. Paul leaves the Board with a tenure of 17 years, making him the longest serving Board member in MRPC’s history.

Thank you Paul and Garry for your dedicated years of service.
