On February 2nd, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills’ Council appointed two new members to the Mississippi River Power Corp. Board of Directors. MRPC is pleased to welcome David Goldsmith and Patrick McNeil to the organization.
Mr. McNeil has extensive experience in the electricity sector including generation development, procurement, and operations in addition to undertaking significant merger and acquisition activities. He served in multiple senior and executive roles at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) prior to retiring as Senior Vice President – Corporate Development & Chief Risk Officer. Following his retirement from OPG, Mr. McNeil provided consulting service to major national and international corporations on strategy development, business acquisition, risk management and corporate development. McNeil has substantial corporate and community board experience and currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Elexicon Corporation – the single shareholder and holding company of Elexicon Energy Inc. and Elexicon Group Inc. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a holder of the ICD.D designation.
Mr. Goldsmith is trained as an electrical engineer. He is retired and former CEO of a steel company located in Hawkesbury with operations in Ontario and Quebec. His roles over a 32-year career included plant manager, Chief Engineer, and CEO. He has over 25 years direct experience in the Ontario energy sector (electricity and gas) both as a large industrial consumer and with significant involvement in the re-development of the electricity sector regulatory framework (1998-2003). He has appeared at the Ontario Energy Board and served as an expert witness and advisor at trade panels at the US International Trade Commission. He has corporate and community board experience and has served on municipally owned electricity company (Collingwood Powerstream). He is a certified corporate director with the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Both Mr. McNeil and Mr. Goldsmith will be great assets to MRPC as we continue our focus on Strategic Planning and stewardship of our existing assets.
